Next Stop...Beijing.

The drive for excellence, always. The lust for glory, insatiable. The quest for Olympic Immortality, only happens every four years. Some come close. While others continue their dream for gold and the honor to represent their country.
As the trials continue across the nation, some return home to share their moment with family and friends. It was last night that I into Miguel Pate. Fresh off a plane from Oregon is someone living a dream. Miguel just qualified for the U.S. Track & Field team in the long jump. The smile on his face tells it all. Able to jump the equivalent of the length of a school bus this guy is ready to take on the world.
I think he was more exicited that his family surpised him at the airport. What makes these guys special is that they come from all over. Big city or small town it doesn't matter. They train, they sacrifice, they give all that they have for one shot to wear Red, White, & Blue.
So on 08-08-08, Beijing is going to get a little LA flavor. But I have a feeling that more of the hometown athletes are going to punch their ticket to the Far East also. As soon as they do to I'll post them on the Forum as well.
